So the positive run continues. I took home a profit of around £160 last night for a six hour session.
I am not winning big, but I am happy to chip away. Losing sessions are becoming a very rare occurrence.
Last night I managed to get myself stuck around £180. I raise on the button with A 9 suited (clubs), and get several callers.
The flop comes down queen high with two clubs. The small blind bets out £12 (into around a £20 pot), there is one caller before the action folds around to me.
I decide to 3 bet the small blind. Who is a Finish rounder, over here in London with a buddy purely to play poker.
I have recorded sufficient hours of table time to make a play at this guy. He is a solid player (more of a tournament grinder), tight aggressive, and I realise his perception of me is somewhat of a loose aggressive player, however I have shown a reluctance to make moves in a multiple way pot, and I know he has enough ability to recall I can very easily lay down hands.
So my 3 bet will portray an over pair, or AQ minimum to him. As hoped he folds. However the caller of the original flop bet pushes all in for another £80 or so.
Its early on in the night, and I want to gamble it up! I haven't played with this dude before, so I figure him for a bit of a donk (first impressions are proved right during the night -this guy turns out to be a complete beginner and the ultimate donkey) so I guess he may be pushing with a queen (bad kicker).
With that in mind, my ace is live. I don't figure my 9 to be live. In turns out, the guy had moved all in on me with bottom pair, sixes with a jack kicker. So I had two over cards in addition to the flush draw. Making me a 52% favourite.
Obviously I run soooo fucking good, and the turn and river are bricks. I ship over my chips to this donkey, and re load.
The Finish player showed his QK. My play in theory was right, and I am even happier with my enthusiasm to gamble it up! Weeeeee....
Anyway, from there on I play some excellent poker.
Check raising a bet on the river with ace high, knowing full well my ace was good. Sick!
Check raising a missed flush draw on the river for £300 more, making my opponent lay down top top. Sick!
Flopping top top myself, with a bunch of betting and raising before the action comes around to me, having the heart to push all in (to deep stacked players). Sick!
I simply would not of made these plays a few months back. I am playing well, running bad. But doing OK!
I really want to get some online hours in before I head off to The Vic, so I have to go!
Yigit out!
