So check this out...after couple of heavy losing sessions on UB and PokeStars (see earlier posts), I decided that I would take some time out from online poker.
My reasons behind this decision were:
1. I was burnt out, played too many hands. Seriously burnt out!
2. Coupled with my sessions at The Vic, I was not getting any non poker time to relax. So I was either at The Vic playing poker or at home playing poker. Not good. You need time to relax away from poker right?
3. I intend to play a serious volume of online poker in the new year....go for both Supernova status on Pokerstars, and also play enough on UB to generate enough rake back to pay household bills. So with that in mind a serious rest would be advisable.
I have pledged not to play online until January! Ahhhh hope I can do it!
So I cashed out my millions from the various sites! (actually only several thousand!)....not quite Brian Townsend let...and decided I would use this money sensibly to take some shots at the bigger games at The Vic.
My plan of action was to only take shots, through good game selection. If saw a soft table I would play, not just for the sake of playing. So I would avoid the regulars and the sharks.
I went in to The Vic early on Sunday. There was a £5-£5 pot limit running, with a seat open, and when I spotted several huge cash fishes I decided this would be a good spot!
So I bought in for £1,500. One of the things I love is having chips in front of me, and playing deep stacked so, believe it or not I was in no way playing scared or nervous.
The stacks on the table ranged from £1,000 to £10,000 (only one guy was sitting that deep).
I won a couple of early pot, and was surprised how passive most seem to be playing. They were either playing tight passive or loose passive.
I built my stack up to around £2,000.
Then the following pot came up.
I am on the cut off +1, with a open limper from my left I decide to call with K 10 suited. Action folds around to the button who pops it up to £30. Small blind folds, and big blind calls. Action fold around to me and I call the £25. We are soooo deep that you pretty much have the implied
odds to call with any two cards really, let alone K 10 suited!
So we are three way to the flop. With around £100 in the middle.
Flop comes down 10 2 6 (rainbow).
So I flop top pair. The big blind checks around to me. I like my hand, but for pot control purposes I don't want to be betting out here. What I mean is, say if I lead for £75, this guy could easily represent an over pair and POT me back, and then I am in a spot tight spot. But say if I check, this guy can only bet £100, which I could call and reevaluate on the turn.
The button does indeed lead out, only £50 into £100 pot. The big blind calls (mmmmm...), I call.
At this point I am thinking the button has AK (or an overpair), and thinks he is either value betting his hand, or making a standard continuation bet. The big blind's call is more thought provoking as I cant narrow down his range near as much as could of the original raiser. But it is not uncommon at all the be calling with bottom / middle pair on the flop.
The turn is the money card. King. Big blind checks. I am thinking please let the button have AK! I decide to lead this turn card and bet £150 into a £250 pot. The button calls. I would think he may consider raising, but then again it is a bad spot for him even with AK, he has to worry about the guy behind him and me....so AK smooth calling is very possible, especially as the board is pretty much draw dry. 10 2 6 K.
The big blind raises £300 more. So now alarm bells are ringing (NOW....fuck Yigit alarm bells should of being ringing on Sunday NOT NOW!). Check raising the turn is a very strong play. I am running though the range of hands he could be doing, BUT more importantly I am running through the hands this guy is PUTTING ME ON.
The sick thing is.....he can not put me on K 10. I would of and should of bet out the 10 on the flop. So I really don't think he can put me on k10 (top two pair), and that is the problem. If this guy cant put me on top two pair, then he may of turned a rag two pair of his own and is trying to protect it thinking it is good.
Say if I would of lead the flop, and lead the turn, not only would I of narrowed down the range of my opponent's hands but more importantly I would have a better idea of their thought process with regard to my hand. AHHHHH...hope this is making sense!
So he either has a set or two pair. Meh....I call the £300. There is a huge amount of money in the middle now, and I know he insta-shoving the river.
River is a brick, it is a blur so I cant remember but yes he does shove. Covering me. So the pot would be if I call in excess of £4000.
My decision was made on the turn. He has two pair, the river does not change anything. So by folding the river I would be just doing it because of the money, not through another decision making process and that would be wrong.
I call. He shows me a set of sixes. I re load and managed to get £1,000 back.
Ammmm..don't really know what more to say. So I wont.
The next day I donked off £700 in the £3-£3 game just through playing like a donkey.
SOOOOO.....I need to get back on track.
I need to demonstrate what I preach:
1. BANKROLL MANAGEMENT (ONLY PLAY £1-£2 OR THE £25 GAME)
2. DON'T BE RESULT DRIVEN, LEARN FROM MISTAKES, ANALYSE PLAYS AND MOVE ON.
WEEEEEEEE...
Anyway.....Yigit done with this post....and moving on...got to post some pictures to keep positive....

My best friend Gurdeep telling me he way gay.....I was not tooooo happy I was sharing a room with him.....in Greece.
